PB Wild Turkey Bugger

This fly was developed and tied by Paul R. Buccheri, of Rutland, VT, as part of his new 'PB' fly selection.

Materials:
Thread:   Black monocord
Hook:   3X Long Tiemco 5263 sizes # 2-6
Tail:   2 Wild turkey marabou wrapped 360 around hook and copper Krystal flash 2 strands on each side
Body:   Green Krystal flash chenille
Hackle:   Wild turkey marabou wrapped 360 around hook
Head:   Black thread

PB Gray Ghost in the Round

This fly was developed and tied by Paul Buccheri, as part his 'PB' fly selection.

Materials:
Thread:   Black monocord
Hook:   Tiemco 5263 sizes # 2-10
Ribbing:   flat mylar silver tinsel
Body:   Orange floss
Throat:   Sparse white buck tail over which are 4-5 strands of peacock herl then short golden pheasant crest curving upward
Wing:   Golden pheasant crest feather the full length of the body and curving downward, over which is one gray marabou feather tied "in the round" (wrapped around the hookshank)
Shoulder:   Silver pheasant body feather, tied "in the round"
Cheek:   Jungle cock
This is a great baitfish pattern for the Battenkill tied in size #6 and smaller.
PB Scraggly

This pattern was originally created by Russ Ryder and was featured in the December 1991 (Vol. 1, Issue 1) issue of "Fly Fisherman". It was one of several flies tyed by Russ and described in an article titled "Perfect Peacock Patterns", written by Steve Tofani. It is shown here as tied by Paul Buccheri, as part of his 'PB' fly selection.

Thread:   Black 3/0 monocord
Hook:   Tiemco 5263 sizes # 12-16
Body:   Peacock herl and grizzly hackle palmered and clipped short on one side
Ribbing:   Gold wire
Hackle:   Hen furnace, tied in at butt end
The Scraggly imitate a cased caddis when fished wet. When fished as a dry it imitate an adult alder fly.
PB Breadcrust Nymph

This pattern is credited to Rudy Sentiwany who is said to have developed it in the early 1940s in northeastern Pennsylvania. This tie is courtesy of Paul Buccheri. PB Breadcrust
Materials:
Thread:   6/0 UNI- Thread, black
Hook:   Daiichi 1150, sizes # 8-10
Underbody:   Orange dubbing
Body:   Ruffed grouse tail feather in red phase, trimmed and pith removed
Hackle:   Grizzly hen neck feather
Head:   1/8 brass bead
Steps in preparing quills:
  • Trim barbules off each side leaving 1/16 inch
  • Soak the trimmed quills in water for 2 or 3 days
  • Using a double-edged razor blade, split leaving barbules with the topside
  • Soak the split quill
  • Lay the quill pith side up remove pith from quill
